At Coorie, I believe the land tells a story—one of resilience, beauty, and belonging. My designs are inspired by the landscapes that have shaped us and continue to ground and restore us.
From the Australian bush, where flowers flourish against all odds, to the earthy tones of the California chaparral after the rains, to the wide-open hills of the Scottish Highlands that offer sanctuary and solace—each place brings its own rhythm, colors, and textures.
The word Coorie comes from Scotland, capturing the idea of drawing comfort, strength, and joy from the wild outdoors while embracing the warmth of home. It means “to snuggle, nestle, hug”. This is the heart of what we create: pieces that bring the raw beauty of nature into everyday life, grounding you in a sense of place and belonging.
About Me
I have always been drawn to the land. Growing up on a dairy farm in the south of England, I spent my days with my hands in the dirt, surrounded by my parents’ gardens, fresh produce, and a farmhouse filled with treasured objects and stories from faraway places. It was a life shaped by hard work, creativity, and a deep connection to place—one that still guides everything I do.
As a child, I was happiest outdoors, wandering the farm, following the stream, and gathering feathers, seed pods, flowers, and stones. That early curiosity led me to study horticulture and fine art in Scotland, where my love of plants and making began to come together.
When I moved to California, those passions found a new expression through landscape design. I was especially drawn to Australian and South African plants—their sculptural forms, rich textures, and seasonal rhythms—and loved weaving them into gardens whenever I could. Sharing these remarkable species with others eventually inspired a new dream: a flower farm in the hills of San Diego, where I could grow, harvest, and celebrate their beauty through the seasons.
Working so closely with flowers deepened my connection to the natural world and led me back to ceramics. Clay became another way to explore the forms, textures, and quiet beauty I have always found in nature. Each vessel is inspired by the landscapes I love and designed to bring a sense of the outdoors into the home.
Coorie brings together the threads of my journey—flowers, ceramics, heritage, and a deep sense of place. Inspired by the Scottish ethos of comfort, connection, and belonging, it is a celebration of seasonal living and homes that feel warm, meaningful, and personal.
Through handcrafted vessels, seasonal flowers, and carefully curated goods for the home, I hope to create pieces that invite people to slow down, connect with nature, and find beauty in everyday rituals. Every collection reflects the landscapes that continue to inspire me, from the rolling hills of Scotland to the sunlit countryside of California.
